FRANCESCO FARAONI – I am Italian and was born in 1979. I have a technical and scientific background, having graduated from Sapienza University of Rome. I have been interested in astrology since 1999 and, over the years, my studies have increasingly focused on the history of astronomy and astrology. Since 2015, I have devoted myself primarily to the study of traditional astrological sources, also deepening my understanding through dialogue with other scholars, enthusiasts, and researchers. My principal interest lies in the historical, cultural, and doctrinal contextualisation of astrological texts, with particular attention to literature produced between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries. I am also interested in the cultural and collective movements that characterised the Enlightenment and the periods that followed, during which astrology underwent new forms of reception, transformation, and cultural re-emergence.
My approach is grounded particularly in the Ptolemaic tradition and in its Renaissance and modern developments. I am interested in the methodological innovations introduced by Placido Titi in the Primum Mobile and in the later developments of the Placidus tradition, including the additions formulated by Francesco Brunacci and Francesco Maria Onorati in the 1675 edition of the Physiomathematica sive Coelestis philosophia.
I also study astrological magic, with particular regard to electional astrology and the practices of natural magic. I pursue independent research and ongoing study through engagement with ancient texts, historical sources, and educational institutions dedicated to traditional astrology. I am a member of CIDA, the Centro Italiano Discipline Astrologiche.
Among my most significant educational experiences are the courses I attended at the Academy of Traditional Astrology (LINK), directed by Dr Luís Ribeiro, and my ongoing studies at Almugea (LINK), the Italian Academy of Classical Astrology. I have also attended courses in Astrological Magic based on the long-standing teaching experience of Giacomo Albano (LINK), a CIDA member and member of Cielo e Terra, an association for the study of classical astrology.
